On Sunday, JAB (Joint Admission Board) has announced that from 2022, JEE Advanced will go online. JEE Advanced is the only eligibility exam to get admission in the most prestigious engineering institutes, IITs (Indian Institute of Technology). Introducing online process will make the logistics and evaluations easier. JAB is responsible for taking all the examination related decisions.
Prof Bhaskar Ramamurthi, IIT-Madras’ Director, and Chairman of JAB 2022 said, "It has been decided that the JEE (Advanced) will be conducted in online mode from 2022 onwards. Further information regarding the examination will be provided by the JAB in due course."
Aspirants will now take the examination using the computer instead of pen and paper mode. So far, candidates can opt for online or offline JEE Main while the JEE Advanced will be in offline mode only. It is not specified whether there will be any available offline provision will be available or not.
Approximate 13 lakh students appeared in JEE Main 2022, with less than 10 per cent of them going online. Around 2.2 lakh students were eligible to write the JEE (Advanced).
A JAB Member said "In order to make logistics and evaluations easier it was decided today that the JEE-Advanced should be made online." This decision may increase the ration of online exam taker over the offline JEE Main exam taker or it is estimated the complete JEE Main will also go online.
JEE (Advanced) is the only criteria to get admission into various undergraduate courses such as Bachelor’s, Integrated Master’s or BachelorβMaster Dual Degree in Engineering, Sciences, Architecture, or Pharmaceutics. Hence, candidates have to perform well in the examination. Undoubtedly, going online is a good thought to implement but this may create problems for the candidates belonging to rural areas. They have to work hard and should learn how to be familiar with this online mode.
JEE Advanced 2022 will held in the month of May 2022 and 2.2 lakh qualifiers of JEE Main 2022 will be allowed to submit thee online application form. The online registration of JEE (Advanced) will commence after the release of JEE Main scores.
