The two senior professors of Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur (IIT-K) have recently been honoured with the coveted Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar awards 2022 for their tremendous contribution in the field of for science and technology.
Prof S. Anantha Ramakrishna from physics department and Prof Avinash Kumar Agarwal from mechanical engineering department have won this award in the physical sciences and engineering sciences categories respectively on the platinum jubilee of CSIR.
Notably, few years back two more professors were awarded with SS Bhatnagar award in 2003 and with the total calculation of accolades, IIT-K outshines other IIT institutes in terms of bagging 12 SS Bhatnagar awards.
IIT director Prof Indranil Manna, said, “This award is the highest and the most coveted recognition to scientists and engineers in this age bracket (45 years) in the country. IIT Kanpur has the highest concentration of Bhatnagar awardees among the IITs”. Deputy director, IIT Kanpur Prof Chaturvedi also congratulated the two faculty members.
SS Bhatnagar is an award named on the CSIR's founding director late Dr. Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar. The awardees are given a cash prize of INR 5,00,000.
