A burgeoning economy, globalization as well as avenues of cross- cultural exchange have broadened the scope of the field of Design in the country, and have opened up multiple career avenues for the students. With the aim of highlighting the various facets of the courses under the Design category, and to inform students about opportunities available in the field, click4college.com organised a Design Fair on April 19, 2015 at Hotel Sofitel, Bandra Kurla Complex.
A first-of-its-kind initiative in Mumbai, the click4college Design Fair was very well received by students and their parents. At the seminar organised as part of the fair, some of the most eminent educationists and professionals from the field of Design shared their thoughts with the students. Mr. Saurabh Gupta, Design Dean and Founder, The Design Village shared insightful knowledge about the Design field. “Design is not just how it looks and feels, it is how it works and how it tells its story”, said Mr. Gupta.
Prof. Warren Fearn, York St. John University, Prof. Vaibhavi Ranavade, Pearl Academy and Ms. Shubhika Davda, Creative Director of the design label ‘Papa Don’t Preach’ were the other speakers at the seminar. ‘Most important part of education is studying the child and understanding his or her talent ‘, said Ms. Davda.
Top design institutes like Pearl Academy, The Design Village, York St. John University, GIA, INIFD, Whistling Woods Neeta Lulla School of Fashion, Mod’Art International and Istituto Marangoni participated in the fair. The counselling stalls of these institutes saw good interaction with the students. Students were particularly keen to know about emerging fields in design like Product Design, Set Design and Jewellery Design, in addition to the already established sectors like Fashion Design and Graphic Design.
