Golden Jubilee Celebration at NITIE, Mumbai Starting October 19, 2013

A grand event is round the corner at the National Institute of Industrial Engineering, Mumbai. NITIE is going to celebrate its Golden Jubilee – 50 glorious years of excellence with Avartan 2013, an amalgamation of Cultural, Sports and Business events. NITIE will present the events starting October 19th till October 25th, 2013.

The Golden Jubilee Inauguration will be on October 22nd, 2013. Shri Prithviraj Chavan, Hon. Chief Minister of State of Maharashtra, has been invited as Chief Guest for the event. Dr. M. M. Pallam Raju, Hon. Cabinet Minister of India-MHRD will come as Guest of Honour. The college has also invited Shri Ashok Thakur, Secretary – Department of Higher Education MHRD and Shri Gautam Thapar, Chairman, NITIE Board of Governors, as Chairman for the panel discussion.

NITIE will also present Lakshya Business Visionary Awards to felicitate the Industry Stalwarts including, Mr. Baba Saheb N Kalyani, Chairman, Kalyani Group and B. Prasada Rao, Chairman, BHEL.

Following are some of the events to be conducted as part of Avartan 2013:

On October 23, 2013:

• Financial conclave that will feature Anirban Lahiri, CEO-GMC, Deutsche Bank, Sujan Sinha, MD & CEO, Shriram Housing Finance, C Jayaram, Joint MD, Kotak Mahendra, Abraham Chacko, ED - Federal Bank and Ms Shubhada Rao, Chief Economist, Yes Bank (Tentative).

• Prerana Business Meet with Dr. Habil Khorakiwala, Chairman - Wockhardt Group, Mr. Uttam Bose, MD and CEO - Hindustan Motors Limited, Mr. Ganesh Ayyar. CEO and Director-Mphasis, Mr. Abhijit Roy, MD and CEO - Berger Paints India Ltd, Mr. Arindam Sen, Country Head, Global Delivery & Technology Services, Schneider Electric - Information, Process & Organization (IPO). Cultural Fest (Arohan 2013) will include:

• Mickey Virus" movie crew will visit the campus from 3pm to 6pm; Music Director Hanif Shaikh will perform with his band on October 19th, 2013.

• Flagship Event, the Headbangerz Arena- the War of Bands on October 19, 2013

• Unplugged Acoustic Jam session by G.I.M.A Fame Hind Rock Band on October 19, 2013

• Surukshetra the Solo Singing on October 19-20, 2013

• Nrityotsav the Solo and Group Dance on October 20, 2013

• Informal events include Nukkad Natak, Doodle, Mosaic, Open Shutter and Chalchitra on October 19th and 20th, 2013

Sports Fest (Josh 2013) will include:

• Opening ceremony of Josh to be inaugurated by Mallika Bajaj, an Indian journalist and sports caster who recently appeared as the youngest ever television host of the Davis Cup competition in India on October 19th, 2013.

• Events during Josh Include Athletics: 100m, 200m, 400m relay races, Cricket, Futsal, Basketball, Volleball, Tennis, Badminton and Table Tennis on October 19th & 20th, 2013.

The event is expected to be fun-filled and a great learning experience for students.
