The final results have been announced for the Combined Defence Services (CDS II) 2011 exam that was conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) in September 2011 for admissions to Officers Training Academy (OTA).


427 candidates (327 men and 100 women) have qualified the written CDS test (held by UPSC) and the interviews (held by the Services Selection Board {SSB} of the Ministry of Defence). Check the list here.


These 427 candidates will now get admission to the following courses that will commence in October 2012 at the Officers Training Academy (OTA), Chennai:

  • 96th Short Service Commission Course (for Men)
  • 10th Short Service Commission (Non-Technical) Course (for Women

The list of the 96th Short Service Commission Course (for Men) also includes the names of the candidates who were recommended earlier on the basis of the result of the same examination for admission to Indian Military Academy, Dehradun; Naval Academy, Ezhimala, Kerala and Air Force Academy, Hyderabad (Pre-Flying) Training Course(s).


The results of Medical Examination of candidates have not been taken into account in preparing the merit list.The candidature of all the candidates is Provisional.  The verification of date of birth and educational qualification of these candidates will be done by Army HQ. 


The marks of the candidates will be available within 15 days from the date of declaration of final results (i.e today - 23rd AUgust 2012) on Commission’s website for 60 days.


About CDS
 

The UPSC (Union Public Service Commission) conducts the CDS examination (Combined Defence Services) to recruit officers for the Army, Navy and Air Force. CDS is conducted twice a year. Once in February (CDS I) and once in September (CDS II).

If you clear the written test, you will be interviewed by the Service Selection Board(SSB) and if selected you would be sent to the Indian Military Academy(IMA), the Indian Naval Academy or the Air Force Academy as well as the and Officers Training Academy(OTA), Chennai for your orientation training. 

Those joining the first three institutes get permanent commission while cadets passing out of OTA, Chennai get short service commission. You have to mention your preferences while filling up the application forms.

 
Eligibility 

Age: 
For Officers Training Academy: Male candidates (married or unmarried) between 19-25 years on 1st January or 1st July of the year succeeding the year of examination.

Qualifications: A degree from a recognized University or equivalent
