I’m sure most of you must have already done this, but for those who’re waiting for the 3rd cutoff – this is what you should expect in DU. Be it ECA trials, getting admission or finding out what next – entering DU isn’t easy! Here’s the checklist…

ECA Radar:

I blogged about the form filling experience of students in two major North Campus colleges when the rush for ECA and sports quota forms was on. Apart from KMC and Ramjas, I also checked out Hindu and Hansraj.

There’s more to ECA than just filling forms, though. The ECA trials process hasn’t been too easy either. A student trying for the Hindu said he was very confused due to lack of information available during the process. The story at KMC wasn’t very different. “There were a number of rounds with confusing and complicated rules; though there was some help as student volunteers were present.” said another aspirant. And read Geetika’s story here.

Admission:

Let’s shift focus to ME! I went for my admission into Hindu on the 28th of June, a day after the first cutoff. Now, being the smarty pants that I am, I had already asked my friends who were done with the admissions process to tell me about the same in full detail. So I did have a rough idea about what to expect. But I sure was not prepared for the sheer number of people there! Here’s the blog about it.

Helplines:

The biggest trouble faced by most aspirants, especially those living outside NCR, is the utter uselessness of the admissions helplines set up by the various institutions. The phones are never reachable. They are always either busy, or simply do not respond. So what now? Well, you can physically GO to the college – that’s the best option. But other options include trying to get in touch with the various departments of the colleges through their phone numbers. You can ask for guidance on the click4college.com website itself. I also hear there’s a helpline by BJP.

Other Stuff:

Private colleges. Now, a lot of private institutions had held their admissions process way before the cut offs were announced. With nothing to do, I had gone to a few of these places and cleared the formalities for admission. Once such place was the ultra-cool Amity University. After going through the admissions as well as the interview and other formalities – I was pretty thrilled about getting in. I mean, there’s a mini-mall on the campus – who would not want to go there?! But apart from the fact that it was quite far from my place, I had to withdraw my admission because DU has a higher ranking, so it would be stupid to not take up the DU option. Once my admissions procedure at DU completed, I had to turn my attention to the task I was looking forward to the least – getting out of Amity (bye bye mini-mall…)

Now while the first stage of the process was rather quick and organized, I’m still waiting for all the formalities to be done, *fingers crossed*.
