CCDU College of the Day Series - Kirori Mal College

History: Kirori Mal College is one of the finest colleges of Delhi University, situated in the ‘North Campus’. The American Jesuits established the college in the year 1954 with the name of Nirmala College on the Qutub Road. But due to the problems associated with the staff, after the period of partition, Seth Kirori Mal’s trust took control over the college. The College offers courses in the Science, Commerce, Arts and Humanities streams.

USP: Thecollege is known for its excellence in academics and co-curricular activities. It has won the Vice-Chancellor trophy for the best all round College. Thus, it creates an environment where creativity and learning both are nurtured among the students.

Infra: It has also improved its infrastructure over the years for the students to make them responsible and active citizens. The college has a fully computerized library, computer centre and an active placement cell. It also provides facilities for sports such as Cricket, Football, Hockey, Basketball, Badminton, Boxing, Athletics, Table Tennis, and Chess.

Extra Co-curricular: Apart from this, there are many societies and clubs for the students. The most famous is ‘The Players’, which is probably the best in country for theatre. There are debating, dance and film societies also that bring out the best from the students.

Alumnus: The College has its alumni in almost all the fields. The most famous ones are Amitabh Bachchan (Actor), Satish Kaushik (Actor and Director), Naveen Patnaik (Orissa’s CM), Dr. Sarup Singh (ex V-C of DU) and G.P. Koirala (PM of Nepal).
