The hurdles on the way to a B-School are beyond the entrance exam. Similar is the case for the Maharashtra Common Entrance Test (MAH CET) takers. The candidates who make it to the State Merit list have to go through a counselling process to get into the B-schools which accept MAH-CET scores. This counselling, commonly known as Centralised Admission Process (CAP), is conducted by the Competent Authority of Maharashtra as per the regulation of AICTE New Delhi.

The colleges which qualify for CAP are:

·Approved by the government of Maharashtra

·Affiliated to any one of the Non Agricultural Universities in Maharashtra.

CAP was divided in four rounds last year, where the first three rounds were conducted by centralized allotment and the fourth and the last round would consist of the counselling of the eligible Maharashtra State (MS) candidates. The students were required to fill a separate online form for each of the first three rounds.

CAP Rounds I, II & III-

The seat tags i.e. Reserved, Home University (HU), Other Home University (OHU) and Physically Handicapped (PH) are to be maintained till the last stage of the third round of counselling. When filling the forms for the CAP rounds I, II and III, the eligible candidates will be made available to the seats available for admission and type of seat tags.

CAP Round IV- Centralized Counselling-

This round of centralized counselling is conducted for the eligible MS candidates i.e. those who make it to the Maharashtra State Merit list. In this round, the seat tags would not be applied which means that all the seats available for admission will be considered as GENERAL and shall be allotted to eligible MS candidates as per the inter-se merit.

The important thing here would be that the category of the students, i.e. open or reserved or even the category of the seats available to admission, i.e. HU, OHU, PH and backward class etc. will not be referred to and all the vacant All India Level seats shall be treated as GENERAL.

The First three rounds of CAP are divided into the following stages:

Stage 1- For all the Maharashtra State (MS) candidates

Stage2- For all the Special Backward Class candidates (This stage is conducted for HU area seats only).

Stage 3- For certain specific groups of Backward Class category

Stage 4- For all Backward Class Category candidates

Stage 5- Persons with disability category candidates

Stage 6- For all the candidates without HU, OHU seat tags

Stage 7- For all the candidates without any reservation
