On February 25, 2015, investor forum of S K Somaiya College of Arts & Science, Mumbai organized a competition named "DALAL STREET".
It was basically a mock trading competition of trading shares (stocks) held among students. Students from all courses were welcomed and they were also very enthusiastically participated in the competition. The hope was literally very high.
Rules:
- Only 15 groups were allowed to participate in the competition out of 70 groups registered for the competition
- To select the groups, forum took a knockout round where questions related to stock market were asked to the participants
- 15 groups were provided with an accountant whose work was to record all the transaction (i.e. buying and selling of the stocks) and to calculate profit and loss at the end of trading session
And the game began with shares of different companies was displayed in the screen and was changing continuously and there was noise all over the hall of investors and brokers. All the investors (i.e participant) went to the brokers to execute their trade. Participants traded aggressively. The rationale behind conducting this game was to make the actual scenario that happens in the real trading floor, this game continued for about 2 hours and it was really fun and amusing.
The end:
At the end the account was calculated which defined the profit and loss for their investor. Final result was announced and there were three groups which begged the winner’s medals. They were awarded by medals by professor and it is to be printed in the college magazines.
