Common PGCET in Telangana for More Choices, Easier Counselling

The Telangana State Council of Higher Education (TSCHE) is planning to make PG Admission in Telangana easier through a single common test from the next academic session, 2022.

In order to ease the admission process for postgraduate programmes, TSCHE is working towards designing a single common entrance test whose scores will be accepted by all the universities and institutions in the state for admission into various PG programmes.

Over the last 1 to 2 years, a number of new universities have been established in Telangana, which has complicated the admission procedure. One Common Exam for admission will save time and money of the candidates that is spent as application fees. This will also help in easing the counselling process and will give students a chance to perform better in their entrance exam.

Even after the coming up of the new universities till date, the government made no changes in PG Entrance Tests that were conducted by Osmania University (for Mahabubnagar, Palamuru University, Nalgonda, Mahatma Gandhi University and Telangana University) and Kakatiya University (for Sathavahana  University and Karimnagar).  Now, new reforms are being introduced slowly and steadily. The first one of the plans is Common PGCET, which will be applicable from the next academic year.

Taking a slow pace, the government has decided to conduct the Common PGCET in the offline mode but in due course of time if all things go well it will be conducted online also.
