An intensive day was devoted to the 5th batch of PGDM Energy at Great Lakes Institute of Management, Gurgaon, a premier management institute in the country. GLIM celebrated the commencement of its 5th batch of PGPM Energy in a ceremony held on July 17, 2014, at USI Auditorium, Vasant Vihar, New Delhi.
Mr. Deepak Amitabh, Chairman & Managing Director of Power Trading Corporation had given his consent to head the ceremony as Chief Guest and addressed the August ceremony.
Inauguration began with the lighting of the auspicious lamp in the presence of Mr. Deepak Amitabh, Chairman & Managing Director of Power Trading Corporation, Dr. Bala V. Balachandran, Founder, Dean and Chairman, Great Lakes, Dr. B S K Naidu, Chairman Emeritus, Great Lakes, Gurgaon, Mr. Mohan Lakhamraju, Vice Chairman, Great lakes, Dr. Himadri Das, Director, Great Lakes, Gurgaon, Dr. V.P. Singh, Programme Director, PGPM (Energy), Great Lakes, Gurgaon.
Addressing the batch Mr. Deepak Amitabh said “I congratulate the students for taking the course in one of the most challenging and growing sectors of our economy. Power and energy sectors are going to create numerous opportunities in the coming time. I believe that the well designed two year programme and your best efforts will take you all a long way.”
Dr. B. S. K. Naidu, Chairman Emeritus, Great Lakes Gurgaon congratulated the students and stated “It is an honour for me that I am welcoming you all to the course. I thank you for selecting our programme and also Great Lakes. At Great Lakes, we inspire our students and guide them to have a ready roadmap after successfully completing two years. We train them not just to have degrees in Energy Management but to become maestros in the field of energy.”
Welcoming the new batch, Dr. Bala V. Balachandran emphasised on the importance of being energetic in life and said, “We have very distinguished faculty members and believe in imparting best quality education. The students of Great Lakes are moulded to exhibit the highest levels of integrity, commitment, loyalty and responsibility in doing their duty to corporate India, the world and by extension to society at large. My best wishes to you for the two year journey you are embarking on”.
Dr. Himadri Das mentioned in his speech “This is a proud moment for us as we are welcoming our 5th batch of PGPM Energy. This year Great lakes has also completed 10 years of excellence. The journey so far has been from good to great. In 2014, Great Lakes also received accreditation from Association of MBAs (AMBA, UK) and has become the youngest B-school in India to have international accreditation.”
Dr. V.P. Singh, Programme Director, PGPM (Energy) captivated the students by his motivational speech. He advised the batch to “believe in miracles and to strive to attain maximum information and knowledge from their surroundings and apply them in different situations.”
