College of the Week: VIPS, Indraprastha University

VIPS, which recently organised its first-ever convocation ceremony where degrees, gold medals and appreciation certificates were given out to students, is known for: USP: Its law and journalism courses Faculty: The institute has close to 60 faculty members.

Programmes: Three departments offer courses in law, IT and journalism, which include a BCA, a five-year integrated law degree, and a bachelor of journalism and mass communication.

IT Quotient: The campus is WiFi-enabled and has a modern computer lab with 24/7 high-speed internet connectivity. The website gives has comprehensive information on admissions and courses.

Infrastructure: The smart classrooms are filled with abundant natural light.
These come equipped with multi-media facilities like mikes and projectors. Other facilities include a state-ofthe-art moot court and a wellfurnished media lab each for electronics and print media.

The library houses a rich collection of more than 10,000 books (excluding elibrary books) related to law, IT and journalism. It is fully air-conditioned and computerised with operations like issue and return of books, cataloguing, list of overdue books, reservation of books etc done electronically.

The Centre for Intellectual Activity (CIA) is an interesting space, which allows students to indulge in thoughtprovoking discussions.

Clubs and societies: The department of journalism's annual cultural festival, Spandan, is a much-awaited event in the academic calendar. Besides, moot court com petitions are held often and students from all the three departments participate in various college events.
