CBSE Announces Class 10 Exam Results 2012 (Chennai Region)

The Central Board of Secondary Examination (CBSE) has announced the Secondary School Examination (class 10) results 2012 for the Chennai region which includes Maharashtra late today evening (21 May 2012).

Several city school principals were taken by surprise with the sudden declaration of results as they say the board usually announces the date of results a day before declaring them.

CBSE chairman Vineet Joshi claimed that there was no secrecy in declaring the results. “It is a good move that the results were declared suddenly. Students are always anxious and apprehensive with the declaration of results,” said Joshi.

The results of both the school-based exam and the board exam were declared on Monday. Schools were unable to compile and analyse the results on Monday owing to the late announcement. “I checked the board website at 10am on Monday but did not see any sign of the result date. At 8pm, when we logged on to the website, we found that the results had been declared. We hope that the board does not repeat this with the Class 12 results,” said Indu Mathur, principal, Apeejay High School, Kharghar.

“There was no news about the results and suddenly we saw a few students posting on Facebook that they had got their results. A teacher from the school intimated me that the results were declared,” said Deepshikha Shrivastava, principal, Rajhans Vidyalaya in Andheri.

Some principals said the sudden declaration of results helped reduce students’ anxiety. “There was no hype and results were no longer a big deal,” said Avnita Bir, principal, RN Podar School, Santacruz.

The CBSE class 12 & 10 results are expected to be declared before end of May 2012.
