Board Tip: Revise, Relax and Remain Positive

The CBSE Class 12 Board examinations will begin on 1st March, 2012 with English core, English elective and functional English being the first exam.

With just one day to go, we give you a few tips to help tide over the exams.

1) GO THROUGH FORMATS: With English being the first exam, students should glance through the questions at the end of the chapters. For the language section, teachers say that students should be well-aware of the formats for some topics -notice, poster, advertisement, invitation and replies, letters ­ business, application and biodata; letters to the editor, factual description, report: newspaper and otherwise and articles.

2) SMART CARDS: Make brief notes on cards that you can quickly glance through before the exam. For papers such as physics and mathematics, make a note of the important formulae. “Students must go through the working of devices, numericals and derivations. Numericals should not be left out since there are marks for steps,“ said Pramada Lele, who teaches physics to Class 12.

3) REVISION SCHEDULE: Before every exam, draw out a rough schedule for its revision. Start by revising what you know best, but also remember to get adequate rest. At the end of each day, tackle a part of the syllabus that you are not very confident about and read it thoroughly.

4) STAY POSITIVE: It is the mantra to tackle exam pressure. “It is not about studying anymore. It is a culmination of all that you have learnt over the last two years. Believe in yourself and stay positive. Tell yourself that you will do well. This is not the last exam of your life -it is just a launch pad for what is to come,“ said Ameeta Wattal, principal, Springdales School, Pusa Road.

5) STATIONERY: Remember to carry your admit card, a photocopy of the same along with a few blue pens, sharpened pencils, an eraser and a ruler. Remember not to use a red pen anywhere in your answer script.
