Birla Institute of Technology, Patna centre to participate in a Workshop on “Environmental Studies”

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT Bombay) is organising a two week ISTE main workshop on “Environmental Studies” as part of the National Mission on Education through ICT, supported by MHRD.  The workshop is mainly open to teachers of engineering colleges with the intention of empowering them.

Teachers interested in participating in this workshop can do so from a remote centre (RC) close to their own college. BIT Mesra is registered as one of the remote centre (RC) of this program (remote center ID:  1331). BIT Mesra has a centre in the state capital of Bihar, Patna. 

Eligibility criteria to participate in ISTE STTP on Environmental Studies:

• Faculty colleagues who are presently teaching in –
• Engineering, Diploma
• Post-Graduate Science Institutes are eligible to attend this training programme.
• Science teachers (Physics, Chemistry, Maths, and Biology) should be teaching either PG courses (MSc Level) or UG Engineering courses (B.E/B.Tech)
• Faculty from Humanities (English, Economics, Social Sciences) and Management would also benefit towards their teaching of the Environmental Studies course.
• Faculty from Architecture may also attend

Topics to be covered at ISTE STTP on Environmental Studies:

• Sustainable Development
• Ecology
• Biodiversity
• Natural Resources (Food, water, energy, forest)
• Environmental Pollution
• Social issues and Environment
• Ethics
• Economics
• Global Climate Change

The duration of the ISTE STTP main workshop on “Environmental Studies” is 2 weeks (10 days). The workshop is being offered FREE of Cost.

* Participants will be expected to carry out some additional assignments in the two weeks following the completion of the course.

Please not that remote centers participating are being funded to provide tea/lunch on each day of the main STTP, and for accommodation, wherever available*, for a limited number of outstation participants. Travel reimbursement up to Rs. 1000/- will be paid only to the outstation participants, if the distance travelled from their Institute to the Remote Center is more than 100 kms. *Accommodation is not guaranteed.
