As the admission season progresses, the skyrocketing cut-offs by Delhi University are giving a tough time to most of the students. Surely, it’s not the end of the world, and there are plenty of options out there.
Based on this concept, click4college.com organized a counseling session, called Beyond DU 2014, on Saturday (12th July, 2014) at YWCA for class 12 students seeking admission in colleges offering undergraduate programmes in various disciplines.
Beyond DU is organized by click4college.com every year to facilitate students seeking options beyond the Delhi University. Generally, a lot of students are clueless about what to do next once they pass out of class 12. This event is held annually to help such students chalk out the right career plan.
Organised at Young Women’s Christian Association (YWCA) on Ashoka Road, Connaught Place on July 12, 2014, Beyond DU 2014 focused on courses, combination of courses and careers available in the fields of Mass Communication & Media, Fashion Studies, Engineering, Management & Hotel Management. The event had eminent Speakers from the above fields address students. The talk was followed by a half an hour’s interactive question & answer session between students, parents & Speakers.

While Ms. Kulshrestha spoke about the various career aspects of doing Bachelors in Journalism Studies, Dr. Goswami highlighted on the multiple fields that are available to students these days beyond the realm of Fashion Designing. Both stressed on PR aka Public Relations as one of the key contributors of success n their respective fields.
Dr. George Thomas spoke about the latest management specialisation – Entrepreneurship and its future prospects, besides other things. He stressed on the fact that more companies are willing to support new and innovative ideas by students if there is business value in them. He said that the new age generation comes from a different mindset; where they believe in working for themselves and contributing to society and rural areas.
Mr. HS Dewan highlighted the various kinds of work in the hospitality industry and how each field in hospitality management can open up career options for the youth. He stressed that perseverance is the key for success in the hotel industry and students should hone their skills while in training.
Dr. Ranjit Singh advised the students to stress on hard work in whatever they choose to pursue.
