About IGNOU:
The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) was established by an Act of Parliament in 1985 to provide high-quality teaching through the Open and Distance Learning (ODL) mode. Today, IGNOU boasts of 21 Schools of Studies and a network of 67 regional centres, around 3,000 learner support centres and 67 overseas centres. The University offers about 490 certificate, diploma, degree and doctoral programmes.

The last date for admission in various academic programmes of the Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) for July 2012 session is 14th August 2012 with late fee of Rs.200 after which admissions for January 2013 session shall commence.
Admissions are open for Masters of Computer Applications (MCA), MA in Rural Development, Tourism Management, English, Hindi, Philosophy, Gandhi and Peace Studies, Education, Public Administration, Participatory Development, Social Work, Economics, History, Political Science, Sociology, Psychology, Adult Education, Extension and Development Studies, Gender and Development Studies, Distance Education, Anthropology, M.Com., M.Sc. in Dietetics and Food Services, Counselling and Family Therapy, Library and Information Science.
The university also invites applications for Bachelor degree programmes like Bachelor of Computer Applications (BCA), Bachelor Preparatory Programme (BPP), B.A. in Political Science, History, Economics, Mathematics, Public Administration, Philosophy, Psychology, Sociology, English, Hindi, Urdu, Tourism Studies, Social Work, Library and Information Sciences, B.Com., B.Sc. in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Zoology and Botany, Optometry and Ophthalmic Techniques, BBA in Retailing and all diploma and certificate programmes.
How to apply for IGNOU admission:
Student Handbook and Prospectus is available in all the Regional Centers of the university, City Centre in the YMCA Tourist Hostel at Connaught Place, as well as in the university’s headquarters that can be purchased for Rs.100 and submitted along with the requisite fee in the form of a demand draft to the concerned Regional Center. Students applying post 14th August 2012 need to pay a late fee of Rs 200.
